Holiday coming up? Getting ready to travel? Buying currency can always be a tricky business and all too often we leave it until the airport to buy our foreign currency. The problem with this that the airport will charge huge commissions on top of the actual exchange rate. Why? Because you’re stuffed if you don’t pay it! So what can we do to lower our personal costs when it comes to buying currency?

  1. Buy Currency Online
  2. I followed the advice of BuyCurrency.org.uk and went with buying currency online. First of all there’s no commission. Second of all there’s no admin fees. Third of all you can get your cash delivered straight to your house and fourth of all you can exchange your currency back at the same rate! Woah that’s a lot of reasons.

  3. Comparing Currency Exchanges
  4. Again this is easier done online. Comparing shops in the offline (also known as ‘real’) world is pretty much impossible and by the time you have all the rates would have changed again. Well there are plenty of sites out there that let you compare the current rates of each exchange making it more transparent, more competitive and less expensive to buy currency.

That’s it! Some really cheap ways to buy currency but it all revolves around buying online. Don’t worry if you’d rather not get your cash delivered to your house, there are ‘pick up at the office’ for those of you that would prefer. You can also set the date and time that you would like to pick up to make sure you avoid any unwanted cancellations. Good luck and good lucky buying cheap currency!
